2026 Winter Visiting Artist Workshop with MiNHi England: Bitwork Adornment
$990/person. All materials are provided.
March 4-8, 2026. Wed-Sun 9am-5pm (with a 1 hour lunch break). 5-day workshop, 35 hours of class time total.
Prerequisite: Intro to Glassblowing or equivalent experience is required. Open to ages 14 years and older.
Course Description: Add intricate detail and dynamic energy to your glasswork in this hands-on bitwork workshop. You will learn to construct solid sculptures, adorn vessels and blown forms, and create unique textures. The class will begin by focusing on the movement of bitwork before progressing into the use of layered color. Using frits and powders, you will learn methods for layering colors to create depth and vibrancy. With a focus on communication, teamwork and precise cutting techniques this style demands, you will build muscle memory, sharpen your hand skills, and develop a more intuitive control of heat.

Artist Biography: MiNHi England is a Seattle based, multi-disciplinary artist, working primarily in glass. She earned her BFA from Alfred University in 3D studies, focused in glassblowing and metal casting. Since graduating in 2010, MiNHi has established herself as a professional glassblower, designer, and independent artist across the US.
Utilizing the unique properties of molten glass, MiNHi personifies the material and imbues a sense of self. Her current artistic practice explores transformative life experiences, conveying the complexities in emotional cognizance. MiNHi’s work serves as a conduit for processing loss, grief, and the inevitable specter of mortality. Her work employs reiteration to convey the intricacies of turbulent emotional patterns, the cyclical rhythms of life, and the nuances of self-awareness.
