Color Application takes your skills to the next level by learning a variety of application techniques in the hot shop for using color bar, powders, and fine frits. We discuss the properties of transparent and opaque colors and how they can react to each other, plus the aesthetic differences when using bar, powder, and frit. Within this course, students learn what it means to drop an overlay, make suppio cups, and incalmo two bubbles together. While working outside of class hours is not required, it is recommended to practice skills between classes - all actively enrolled students get discounted rental rates in the glassblowing Hot Shop.
Prerequisite: Completed Intermediate Glassblowing or equivalent.
$500/person. All materials are provided.
4-week course, 12 hours of class time total. Offered biannually in fall and spring.
Please note that glassblowing is a hot activity, especially in the summer months. If you are particularly sensitive to heat, consider signing up in the spring, fall, or winter.
