Ted Clark - “Drop it like it’s Hot.”

This is a split weekend intensive course - “Drop it like it’s Hot.” Students will be introduced to new techniques the

first weekend and then have the week to work on these skills and techniques and develop questions to present to

the instructor the following weekend. Students will focus on small hot sculpted and hot assembled glass from the

Furnace. This course would be focusing on making smaller parts to assemble, often stored in a garage and kilns to

create complex hot assembled sculpture and redefine time in the glass artist studios. Students will also learn about

the use of oxygen-propane torches in the hot glass studio, color applications including powders, frit, bits, bar,

murini and cane. Additional focus on styles of working glass solo and its evolution to fabrication patterns involving

teamwork will be discussed while working on collaborative sculptures

Course Dates: August 2-4 August 9-11

Student work dates: August 5-8, 3 hours each day

Classes are held 9-5 pm, with two hours of work time after class on second and third day. Students will be

encouraged to use the time between the two sessions to practice. Students must work together and able to rent

time at a discounted rate during this period.
