Compensation: $15/hr

Hours: 10-20 hours a week


  • Minimum of three years of glass blowing experience.

  • Experience working in a public setting

  • Experience with power tools.

  • Experience in customer service or hospitality.

  • A positive attitude, including a helpful and outgoing nature.

  • Must be able to talk in front of a crowd and be respectful to our customers.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

  • Ability to work weekends, evenings and some holidays.

  • Ability to represent Foci MCGA professionally.

Job Duties:

  • Assists with scheduling of all glass discoveries, socials and other community events as assigned

  • Provide glass making experiences to individuals or groups during regularly scheduled hours, plus

    some on-call hours

  • Maintaining personal Foci email and the reservation/inquiry email account

  • Daily studio upkeep including all studios, gallery and peripheral areas

  • Opens and closes the studio

  • Work with co-workers to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.

  • Welcome customers to Foci and answer their questions

  • Remain knowledgeable on Foci MCGA programs, events, and pricing

  • Process point of sale purchases and returns

  • Maintain forms, brochures, etc.

  • Answer phone calls, emails, and assist customers with class reservations and cancellations.

  • Prepares the studio for customers, classes, and events.

  • Production work on an as-needed basis

  • Assist instructors during core evening & weekend classes


Foci Minnesota Center for Glass Arts is seeking a qualified Studio Assistant - Experience Coordinator to support in the areas of customer service, facility upkeep, program instruction, gallery support and administrative needs as assigned. This position will act as a liaison between customers and Foci MCGA. This position will operate as the staff member for the hot shop and kiln shop discoveries. The discoveries are part of the educational component of Foci, allowing the public the opportunity to interact with the material and experience glassmaking with guided instruction. These are short experiences that allow for community outreach. This position must be available nights, weekends, and for Foci MCGA special events.
