Foci Minnesota Center for Glass Arts is seeking a qualified Studio Assistant to support in the areas of customer service, facility upkeep, program instruction, gallery support and administrative needs as assigned. This position will act as a liaison between customers and Foci MCGA. The Studio Assistant will assists the Director of Studio Operations and the technical staff in the day to day operations of the studio. This position will also provide support for the hotshop and kiln shop discoveries. This position must be available nights, weekends, and for Foci MCGA special events.
Daily studio upkeep
Studio equipment maintenance and repairs
Work with co-workers to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
Welcome customers to Foci and answer their questions
Remain knowledgeable on Foci MCGA programs, events, and pricing
Process point of sale purchases and returns
Maintain forms, brochures, etc.
Answer phone calls, emails, and assist customers with class reservations and cancellations.
Prepares the studio for customers, classes, and events.
Cleans studios and gallery
Opens and closes the studio
Production work on an as-needed basis
Provide glass making experiences to individuals or groups during regularly scheduled hours, plus some on-call hours
Assist instructors during core evening & weekend classes
Qualifications or requirements
Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree preferred, equivalent experience considered.
Minimum of three years of glassworking experience
Experience with power tools.
Experience in customer service or hospitality preferred.
A positive attitude, including a helpful and outgoing nature.
Must be able to talk in front of a crowd and be respectful to our customers.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Ability to work weekends, evenings and some holidays.
Ability to represent Foci professionally.
